Artistscope
is pleased to announce that the PC version of the image
protection program CopySafe is scheduled for release in
October. All hands have been on deck in recent months in
preparedness for the launch and the already proven system has
been further enhanced.
With the CopySafe
release, Artistscope intends to offer a rare thing: a first
release without the inevitable bugs that usually leads to
users almost immediately having to upgrade the program at
great inconvenience. The program can offer this as it is a
Java program that runs independently of the user's platform
with it's own support and sources. This PC version will run in
all environments whether it is Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME
CopySafe can be used to protect images when displayed from
almost any online web page. Aside from the usual limitations
of download times, the program will protect images of almost
any file size.
Instead of placing a normal image onto the html page, the
image is first encrypted for insertion into a viewer. It is
the applet viewer that sits on the page replacing the image.
The encrypted image is unusable unless displayed from its
viewer. It is only the encrypted images that are uploaded to
the server, so the master images are not accessible to anyone,
including webmasters.
CopySafe utilizes the protection of both image encryption (as
seen in Secure Image) and the actions of a special plugin that
interacts with the CopySafe applet viewer. When a visitor
loads your protected page, the applet first checks that the
visitor has the CopySafe plug in installed. If the plug in is
not installed, they are referred to a download page where it
can be downloaded. If the plugin is detected and intact, the
applet then displays the image. The image that sits on the
server is encrypted to protect it from direct linking. The
plug in is available freely on the Internet to anyone who
needs it to visit a CopySafe-protected web site.

provide and maintain the download services and support for the
plugin users for free.
Copy Safe is safe from all copying, saving, and capture.
Evaluation copies will not be available before registration.
To use CopySafe on the Internet the program must be registered
to be able to activate the systems security mechanisms.
